Reyna Asheim (Bergstrom) is from Fargo, North Dakota, and is a fifth-generation North Dakotan.
She graduated as valedictorian from Oak Grove Lutheran High School in 2014 and magna cum laude from Concordia College in May 2018 with degrees in communication and religion. While at Concordia, Reyna was a vocal musical scholar and sang in the world-renowned Concordia Choir under the direction of Dr. René Clausen and Tactus, a student-led vocal chamber ensemble. Along with her musical pursuits, Reyna worked in the Career Center at Concordia and served on the Campus Entertainment and Homecoming Committees. Her final semester of college, she lived in Washington D.C. and participated in the Lutheran College Washington Semester. At the end of the semester, Reyna was voted by her peers as the Joyce Joyner Spirit Award Winner.
After interning for Senator John Hoeven in Washington D.C. her final semester of college, she moved to Flathead Lake in Montana to work a fourth and final summer at Flathead Lutheran Bible Camp. As the Art Coordinator, she spent her summer days getting her hands dirty teaching pottery to campers, sleeping under the stars, and spending nearly every weekend hiking in Glacier National Park.
After some traveling and working a few part-time jobs, she accepted her first “big girl” job on Concordia’s Communication and Marketing Team as a Content Specialist in November of 2018. In this role, Reyna spent her days managing Concordia’s social media which entailed engaging with students, faculty, and alumni and sharing their stories.
In June 2019, Reyna competed for Miss North Dakota and placed first runner-up; she decided to compete one more time in 2021 after the competition was postponed a full year due to the pandemic. In June 2021, she accomplished her dream of becoming Miss North Dakota and went on to represent North Dakota at the 100-Year Anniversary Competition of Miss America in Uncasville, Connecticut. She spent her year of service traveling the state speaking to schools, businesses, and organizations about her social impact initiative, “The Influencer Era: Impact Beyond the Screen”, a message about the importance of in-person connection and relationships. In addition to this initiative, Reyna led workshops on personal branding, and healthy social media use, and was the face of the Miss North Dakota Organization — working to enhance the brand and broaden the reach of the nonprofit scholarship organization.
Following her year as Miss North Dakota, Reyna accepted a role at Sanford Health as a Senior Marketing Specialist where she worked until March 2023. In April, she began as the Policy and Communications Manager for the First Lady of North Dakota, Kathryn Burgum.
Reyna currently lives in Fargo and is an active freelance artist, photographer, musician, writer, and content creator. She enjoys planning trips, attending yoga sculpt classes, and eating arguably too many avocados. In September 2022 she married her high school sweetheart in the mountains of Montana.
